Patches of Godlight

It seems I have been sharing this quote of encountering "patches of Godlight" with a number of people over the last few of weeks. When I think enough has been said, circumstances remind me of this quote once more.

"Any patch of sunlight in a wood will show you something about the sun which you could never get from reading books on astronomy. These pure and spontaneous pleasures are 'Patches of Godlight' in the woods of our experience." C.S. Lewis ~ Letters to Malcolm

This idea can be applied to many of life's lessons. One lesson I have learned is, an academic approach to understanding God's nature is simply not enough. I must personally experience Him to learn who He is. And this is only the beginning of understanding Him.
